Autarco Cloud EMS – System Requirements and Supported Configurations
Autarco’s Cloud EMS enables advanced Energy Management System (EMS) functionality directly via the cloud, without requiring a physical EMS controller to be installed on-site.
Instead, control logic and optimization are executed in the cloud based on real-time system data.
To ensure correct operation, specific system requirements and configuration constraints must be met. These requirements differ slightly depending on the Cloud EMS feature being used.
General Requirements for Cloud EMS
All Cloud EMS features require the following baseline conditions:
-
Two-way communication stick installed and operational
-
Consumption meter correctly installed and connected to the inverter
-
Stable internet connection at the site
-
Compatible inverter firmware (automatically validated by Helios, if not compatible reach out to Support)
Negative Price Response – Requirements
The Negative Price Response feature allows the system to respond intelligently to negative electricity prices.
Required System Properties
-
Two-way communication stick
-
Consumption meter correctly installed to the inverter
-
Dynamic energy contract for the end-user
-
Stable internet connection
No battery is required for this feature.
Smart Charging – Requirements and Limitations
The Smart Charging feature automatically optimizes battery charging based on dynamic energy prices and system conditions.
Required System Properties
-
Two-way communication stick
-
Consumption meter correctly installed to the inverter
-
Dynamic energy contract for the end-user
-
Stable internet connection
-
Battery connected to the inverter
Supported Battery and Inverter Configurations
Smart Charging is supported only under the following conditions:
-
A single hybrid inverter
-
One battery connected
-
Hybrid inverters with multiple battery ports are supported only if one port is used
-
Batteries connected via a DC combiner box are supported if they use one battery port on the inverter
-
PV is not mandatory; the hybrid inverter can operate with battery-only configurations
Unsupported Configurations
Smart Charging does not support systems with:
-
Multiple hybrid inverters
-
A hybrid inverter combined with AC-coupled batteries (e.g. cabinets)
-
Mixed storage configurations (e.g. DC battery + AC cabinet)
-
More than one active battery port on a hybrid inverter
These limitations exist to ensure predictable control behavior and system safety.
Summary
-
Cloud EMS eliminates the need for a physical EMS controller
-
Each feature has strict system requirements
-
Smart Charging is limited to simple, single-hybrid, single-battery architectures
-
Complex or mixed storage systems require a physical EMS controller
