How to setup Peak Shaving
Peak shaving is a great feature of battery storage systems to extend your current grid connection.
The main concept is to discharge the battery when the grid load comes above a certain threshold and the discharge will stop when its below the peak again.
Then when the grid load goes under a lower threshold it will start charging the cabinet/battery until the load is above a certain level again.
You basically shave the peak load by using the energy storage device.
To set this up in the EMS Controller
Requirements:
- Steerable energy storage device
- Consumption meter measuring grid connection configured
First login to the controller you want to enable peak shaving option.
Then go to the Settings page and scroll down to the storage options
- Under storage devices select "Peak shaving only".
- Provide the threshold from what grid peak load the EMS Controller should start discharging the storage device for additional consumption.
- Provide a threshold from what grid peak load the EMS controller stop the discharge again. Its advised to use different level to prevent issues.
- Provide a threshold where the charging should stop.
- Provide a threshold where the charging should start.
Mare sure to save your settings.
