NO-GRID: No grid detected
The inverter is unable to detect the AC grid connection, as indicated by the "NO-GRID" error message on the display. This issue prevents the solar inverter from feeding power into the grid, rendering the system non-operational.
Possible causes
- A power outage or interruption in the local grid.
- Tripped AC circuit breakers or switches.
- Loose or faulty AC wiring connections.
Before You Begin
Safety First: Working with electrical equipment always involves risks. Ensure you are qualified and follow appropriate safety precautions. Disconnect the inverter from both AC and DC sources before performing any physical inspection or adjustments.
Gather Information: Before starting troubleshooting, have the inverter manual on hand. You should also gather information about the inverter model and serial number, the installation date, and the PV array configuration (number of panels, capacity, and number of strings).
Troubleshooting Steps
- Verify the AC power supply: Check the main grid power switch and any relevant circuit breakers to ensure the AC power is available at the inverter's connection point.
- Inspect the AC wiring connections: Ensure that all AC wires are securely connected at both the inverter and the AC distribution panel. Look for any signs of damage, looseness, or corrosion on the wires and connectors.
- Restart the inverter: Power down the inverter completely by switching off the AC and DC disconnects. Wait for a few minutes to allow any residual charge to dissipate, and then power the inverter back on.
- Contact the local grid operator: If the problem persists and you suspect a grid outage in your area, contact your electricity provider to inquire about any reported outages or planned maintenance.
Validating the solution
The NO-GRID error should disappear from the inverter's display once the grid connection is re-established and the inverter successfully synchronizes with the grid. The inverter should start generating power, indicated by a "GENERATING" message on the LCD and a steady green LED indicator light.
If the problem is not resolved
If the NO-GRID error persists after completing these steps, there might be an internal fault within the inverter or a more complex issue with the grid connection that requires further investigation.
