No monitoring data via WiFi Stick
This guide helps troubleshoot issues where your WIFI Stick is not providing monitoring data for your Autarco inverter. Monitoring is crucial for tracking your solar system's performance, identifying potential issues, and ensuring optimal energy production.
Possible Causes:
- Loss of power or faulty connection to the WiFi Stick or inverter.
- Malfunction of the WiFi Stick itself.
- Incorrect inverter settings, particularly the inverter address.
- Internet connectivity problems or WiFi signal interference.
- Incompatibility or configuration issues with a Power Export Limiting Device (PELD) if present.
Before you begin:
Safety First: Working with electrical equipment always involves risks. Ensure you are qualified and follow appropriate safety precautions. Disconnect the inverter from both AC and DC sources before performing any physical inspection or adjustments.
Gather Information: Before starting troubleshooting, have the inverter manual on hand. You should also gather information about the inverter model and serial number, the installation date, and the PV array configuration (number of panels, capacity, and number of strings).
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Check Power and Connections:
- Ensure all switches are in the ON position, including the DC switch on the inverter.
- Confirm both the AC and DC power supply to the inverter are active.
- Verify the WiFi Stick is securely connected to the inverter’s 4-pin COM port.
- Inspect the WiFi Stick and its cable for any physical damage or loose connections.
- Test WIFI-STICK Functionality:
- If possible, connect the WiFi Stick to a different device or network to confirm it is working properly. This helps determine if the issue is with the stick or the connection to the inverter.
- Refer to the WiFi Stick manual for specific troubleshooting instructions.
- Verify Inverter Settings:
- Access the inverter’s information menu using the keypad and LCD display. (See your inverter manual for specific instructions on accessing the menu.)
- Check that the inverter address is correctly set, especially in systems with multiple inverters.
- Check External Factors:
- Ensure your router is functioning correctly and the internet connection is stable.
- Minimize potential WiFi signal interference by repositioning the WiFi Stick or router.
- Or try using our MyAutarco app to reconnect your monitoring device.
- PELD Specific Checks (if applicable):
- If a PELD is installed, confirm only one monitoring device is used for the entire system and is connected to the PELD, not an individual inverter.
- Verify the PELD and inverter firmware versions are compatible with your monitoring setup.
- Consult the PELD manual for monitoring-related troubleshooting steps.
Verifying the solution:
After completing these steps, check if monitoring data appears in the MyAutarco app. If the data is successfully transmitted, the problem is resolved.
If the problem is not resolved:
If the error persists after following all the above steps, there might be an internal fault within the inverter.
As a system owner: In this case, contact the inverter installer or distributor for further assistance. You can find the details of your installer in the MyAutarco app.
