Why is Negative Price Response (NPR) not limiting my system immediately?

Summary

Negative Price Response (NPR) is a smart feature designed to protect your ROI by limiting or stopping grid export when electricity prices turn negative. This ensures you aren't paying to give green energy away.

Problem

After enabling the NPR feature in Helios, you may notice that the inverter continues to export to the grid even though current electricity prices are negative. This typically happens if the feature is switched on during an existing period of negative pricing.

Explanation & Solution

The NPR logic is trigger-based. The system "listens" for a change in price status to initiate the limitation.

  • How it works: The inverter receives the command to limit export at the exact moment the price crosses from positive/zero to negative.

  • The Edge Case: If you activate NPR while the price is already negative, the system has missed the initial "start" trigger. It will remain in its current state until the next price change occurs (e.g., when the price turns positive or when the next negative price block begins/ends).

Action: No manual intervention is required. Your system will automatically sync with the next price update and function as expected from that point forward. To ensure maximum benefit, we recommend keeping NPR enabled so it can catch every price transition.
