EMS - Can't find device

If you're unable to find your device on the network, this guide will help you troubleshoot common connectivity issues. Please go through the steps below to ensure a successful connection.

1. Ensure the EMS controller and computer are on the same network

The EMS controller must be on the same local network as the device you're using to search for it (e.g., your inverter).

  • If you’re using Wi-Fi to scan, make sure the controller is connected to the same router (either via Ethernet or Wi-Fi).

  • Avoid using guest networks or VPNs, which can block local device discovery.

  • Check if the EMS controller and the device are in the same subnet (e.g. a EMS controller in subnet 192.168.1.x can generally not talk with a device in subnet 192.168.200.x).

2. Check required network ports

To communicate properly, the following network ports must be open and not blocked by firewalls:

  • TCP port 443
  • TCP ports 1883 & 8883
  • TCP & UDP ports 1192-1194 and 35000-40000
  • UDP port 123
  • TCP port 502

Ask your network administrator to verify that these ports are open on your network.

3. Try a slow scan

In some cases, the initial scan may not detect the device immediately.

  • Retry the scan using a slow or extended search mode.

  • Some devices may take longer to respond, especially on larger networks or if they are just powered on.

4. Verify wiring and power supply

Double-check that the device is correctly powered and properly connected to the network:

  • Ensure Ethernet cables are securely plugged in and the router/switch is powered.

  • Confirm the power supply is stable and the device’s indicator LEDs are active.

Still can't find the device?

If you've tried all the above and still can't locate your EMS controller:

  • Restart the controller and the router.

  • Contact Autarco support with your device's serial number and a description of the issue.
