DRM_LINK_FAIL: DRM connect failure
The "DRM Connect Fail" error signifies a communication breakdown between the inverter and the DRM (Data Remote Module). The DRM is responsible for transmitting performance data and enabling remote monitoring and control of the inverter.
Why it's problematic
- This failure disrupts remote monitoring and control capabilities, limiting the ability to track performance and diagnose issues remotely.
- Inability to access real-time data can hinder troubleshooting efforts and potentially delay resolving other problems.
Possible causes
- Wiring problems: Issues with the communication cable connecting the inverter and DRM, such as loose connections, damage, or incorrect wiring, can lead to communication failures.
- DRM malfunction: The DRM itself may be faulty or experiencing technical issues, preventing communication with the inverter.
- Inverter settings: Incorrect communication settings within the inverter could result in incompatibility or a failure to establish a connection with the DRM.
Before you begin
Safety First: Working with electrical equipment always involves risks. Ensure you are qualified and follow appropriate safety precautions. Disconnect the inverter from both AC and DC sources before performing any physical inspection or adjustments.
Gather Information: Before starting troubleshooting, have the inverter manual on hand. You should also gather information about the inverter model and serial number, the installation date, and the PV array configuration (number of panels, capacity, and number of strings).
Troubleshooting steps
- Restart the inverter and DRM: Power cycle both devices to clear potential temporary communication glitches.
- Verify communication cable connections: Ensure the cable connecting the inverter and DRM is securely plugged in at both ends and that the cable is not damaged.
- Inspect communication cable wiring: If possible, check the wiring of the communication cable against the wiring diagram in the inverter manual to ensure it's correctly connected.
- Check inverter communication settings: Refer to the inverter manual and verify that the communication settings, such as DRM ON/OFF, baud rate and address, are correctly configured for the DRM.
Verifying the solution
After troubleshooting, monitor the inverter display for the disappearance of the "DRM Connect Fail" error. The successful restoration of communication is usually indicated by data appearing in the monitoring platform associated with the DRM.
If the problem is not resolved
If the error continues after completing these steps, a persistent communication problem or a fault with the DRM or inverter may be the cause.
