No monitoring data via LAN Stick

This guide helps troubleshoot issues where your LAN Stick is not providing monitoring data for your Autarco inverter. Monitoring is crucial for tracking your solar system's performance, identifying potential issues, and ensuring optimal energy production.

Possible Causes:
  • Power loss or connection issues affecting the LAN Stick or inverter.
  • Malfunction of the LAN Stick itself.
  • Incorrect configuration of inverter settings, especially the inverter address.
  • Network connectivity problems or Ethernet cable faults.
  • Issues with the router or network switch.
  • Incompatibility or setup problems with a Power Export Limiting Device (PELD), if installed.

Before you begin:

Safety First: Working with electrical equipment always involves risks. Ensure you are qualified and follow appropriate safety precautions. Disconnect the inverter from both AC and DC sources before performing any physical inspection or adjustments.

Gather Information: Before starting troubleshooting, have the inverter manual on hand. You should also gather information about the inverter model and serial number, the installation date, and the PV array configuration (number of panels, capacity, and number of strings).

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check Power and Connections:
    • Ensure the inverter's AC and DC switches are in the ON position.
    • Confirm both the AC and DC power supply to the inverter is working properly.
    • Verify the LAN Stick is firmly connected to the inverter's appropriate communication port. This may be a 4-pin or 16-pin COM port, depending on the inverter model.
    • Inspect the LAN Stick and its cable for any physical damage or loose connections.
  2. Test LAN-STICK Functionality:
    • Connect the LAN Stick to a different device or network to verify its functionality. This helps isolate whether the issue is with the stick itself or the connection to the inverter.
    • Consult the LAN Stick manual for specific troubleshooting steps. The source documents do not include the LAN Stick manual, so you will need to locate it separately.
  3. Verify Inverter Settings:
    • Access the inverter's settings menu using the display and buttons. Refer to your inverter manual for instructions on how to do this.
    • Double-check that the inverter's address is correctly set, particularly in systems with multiple inverters using a LAN Box or GPRS Box. If using a WiFi Stick or LAN Stick, changing the address might disrupt monitoring.
  4. Check External Factors:
    • Ensure the router or network switch is functioning correctly and check for any network connectivity issues.
    • Verify the Ethernet cable connecting the LAN Stick to the network is not damaged or faulty.
    • Try a different Ethernet cable and port on the router or switch to rule out cable or port-related problems.
    • Or try using our MyAutarco app to reconnect your monitoring device.
  5. PELD Specific Checks (if applicable):
    • If a PELD is installed, confirm that only one monitoring device is used for the entire system. The monitoring device should be connected to the PELD, not directly to an inverter.
    • Ensure the PELD and inverter firmware versions are compatible with your monitoring setup.
    • Refer to the PELD manual for any monitoring-related troubleshooting instructions.

Verifying the solution:

After completing these steps, check if monitoring data appears in the MyAutarco app. If the data is successfully transmitted, the problem is resolved.

If the problem is not resolved:

If the error persists after following all the above steps, there might be an internal fault within the inverter.

As a system owner: In this case, contact the inverter installer or distributor for further assistance. You can find the details of your installer in the MyAutarco app.
